Mill Creek Turkey Calls

Call Care and Information

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE PURCHASE OF YOUR NEW MILL CREEK TURKEY CALL.

If you are a new user, here are a few tips to get you started.

CARE OF YOUR NEW MILL CREEK TURKEY CALL:

1.    Keep your call dry.  It is finished with several coats of hand rubbed Poly or Tung Oil, but it's best not to get it  wet. A small Tupperware bowl with a lid works great and will fit in most vests.

2. Conditioning the slate or aluminum with a scuff pad is important.

3. When conditioning glass or crystal, only sand in one direction. Do NoT sand back and forth.
Clean the dust from the surface with a clean dry paper towel.  (I have found that the plain white towels   work better. Some of the printed towels have a softener in them that will leave a residue on the glass or crystal.)

HOW TO PLAY YOUR NEW MILL CREEK TURKEY CALL:
1. Hold Pot in your hand using your thumb and two fingers, hold lightly, tilt pot slightly toward you.

2. Hold Striker as you would a pencil.  Now tip it forward so that the tip is at a 15-20 degree angle.

3. Place the Striker tip on the call and press down moderately hard while pulling toward you, with a short       quick stroke.     This will produce a Cluck.

4. Cutting is produced by doing fast and excited clucking

5.  Tracing an 'S' or a small counterclockwise pattern very slowly will produce a Purr. This must be very smooth and  controlled.

6. Yelping is achieved by tracing small counterclockwise circles.  Practice the rythm when yelping.

7. Tone, Pitch, and Rasp can be changed by the angle of the Striker and how tight you hold it.  Also, the position of your fingers will change sound.   Strikers made of different woods, carbon tipped strikers, and acrylic strikers will also produce a different sounds.

You may experience some squeaky sounds in the beginning, but with a little practice you will make great turkey  sounds.

Practice-Practice-Practice and then practice some more.

Thanks for stopping by and Good Hunting!
